About the position

The Customer Service Associate (CSA) at Royal Farms plays a crucial role in supporting the store leadership team by completing various store-level tasks. This position focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, managing point of sale duties, and ensuring the store is well-maintained and stocked. The CSA is responsible for creating a friendly and engaging environment that fosters customer loyalty and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure every customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, maintaining standards, and demonstrating product knowledge.
  • Respond to customer requests in a timely manner, including answering questions about merchandise and advising on selections.
  • Communicate with the leadership team regarding customer requests, vendor-related concerns, and product damages.
  • Operate the cash register, scan items, bag merchandise, and handle various payment methods while maintaining cash levels in the register drawer.
  • Activate fuel and gift cards and ensure cash drawers balance at the end of the shift.
  • Assist customers with Self-Checkout machines, encouraging their use and providing education and assistance as needed.
  • Monitor Self-Checkout transactions to ensure payment and prevent theft.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate when necessary.
  • Assist customers with restricted items that cannot be purchased through Self-Checkout, such as tobacco and money orders.
  • Comply with laws by requesting identification for restricted product purchases.
  • Prepare made-to-order food and beverages according to specifications.
  • Replenish products and supplies to keep the store stocked.
  • Check expiration codes, face and inspect items, and manage expired products accordingly.
  • Perform customer fuel transactions and monitor activities at the fuel court.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, quality, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Complete side work such as cleaning and organizing as required by management.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 17 years old.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organizational and decision-making skills.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to accept authority and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift, bend, and stand for up to eight hours per day.
