About the position

The Customer Service Associate at Evergreen Goodwill is responsible for providing exceptional service to customers and donors, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and performing cashiering duties. This role is essential in maintaining a positive shopping experience and ensuring customer satisfaction while supporting the organization's mission of job training and placement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers and donors in a timely and courteous manner by answering questions and resolving problems.
  • Process refunds, apply discounts, and monitor merchandise on hold.
  • Operate the POS system, handling cash, checks, and credit card transactions, and balancing the cash drawer.
  • Monitor the level of customer service on all cash registers and call for backup when needed.
  • Maintain the 'Lost and Found' log and ensure valuables are tagged and secured.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and demonstrate safe work practices.
  • Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (not required).
  • Minimum 1 year of retail/customer service experience.
  • Ability to handle requests quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a nonprofit organization.
  • Bilingual skills to communicate with customers who have limited English proficiency.
