About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Customer Service Representative to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, providing exceptional service and support in a fast-paced retail environment. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting customers with their inquiries, processing transactions, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them with their needs in a friendly manner.
  • Operate the cash register and handle cash transactions accurately while ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Process sales transactions efficiently, including returns and exchanges.
  • Utilize POS systems to manage customer orders and payments effectively.
  • Upsell products and services by understanding customer needs and recommending appropriate options.
  • Maintain knowledge of store promotions, products, and services to provide informed assistance to customers.
  • Assist in supervising junior staff members when required, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations within the store.
  • Perform basic retail math calculations to assist with inventory management and sales reporting.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to enhance the shopping experience for customers.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in customer service or retail environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cash registers and POS systems is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage positively with customers.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience in upselling or supervising staff is a plus.
  • Knowledge of grocery store operations or retail math is beneficial but not required.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to delivering excellent customer service are essential for success in this role.
