About the position

As a Customer Service Associate at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Your primary responsibilities will include engaging with customers and patients, greeting them warmly, and offering assistance with products and services. You will be expected to resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience, embodying the best practices of customer service. This includes demonstrating interpersonal habits such as maintaining eye contact, courtesy, and proactive assistance to identify customer needs and ensure satisfaction. In addition to customer engagement, you will be responsible for operational tasks that include registering sales on the assigned cash register, providing efficient checkout service, and handling cash transactions. You will recommend items for sale, process returns, refunds, and exchanges, and maintain cleanliness and organization of counters and shelves. Your role will also involve checking in and pricing merchandise, implementing asset protection procedures, and ensuring compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products. You will assist in constructing and maintaining displays, managing stock rotation, and providing customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services. Additionally, you will monitor web pick-up orders and assist with the overall maintenance of the store's appearance. Training and personal development are also key components of this position, as you will be required to attend training sessions and complete any assigned personal performance learning (PPL) tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service to customers.
  • Register customer purchases on assigned cash register and process transactions accurately.
  • Recommend items for sale and suggest trade-up or companion items to customers.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of counters and shelves, and take inventory as needed.
  • Implement company asset protection procedures to minimize profit loss.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Construct and maintain promotional displays and complete resets as directed.
  • Assist with food item separation and stock rotation using FIFO method.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services.
  • Monitor web pick-up orders and assist with order fulfillment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly store condition and appearance.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
