Customer Service Clerk

About the position

The Customer Service Clerk position at the City of Big Spring is responsible for providing essential customer service functions for transient and based aircraft aircrews. This full-time role involves greeting aircrews and passengers, processing fuel orders, handling credit card transactions, and providing administrative support to city staff. The position requires regular attendance and may occasionally require weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Greets aircrews and passengers arriving/departing from the airport.
• Receives fuel orders from aircrews and coordinates aircraft fueling with city staff.
• Processes credit card transactions for fuel sales.
• Answers the telephone and responds to customer concerns.
• Handles logistics for loaner car/rental car services.
• Provides administrative assistance to the Department Director and other city staff.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a high school level.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with 1-2 years in a similar role.
• Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state of Texas.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills including word processors.
• Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
• Skill in operating office equipment such as a computer, calculator, typewriter, copier, and facsimile machine.
• Skill in dealing with the public.
• Skills in written and oral communication.
