About the position

The Donor Support Technician plays a crucial role in the preparation and monitoring of the pheresis process at CSL Plasma. This position is responsible for ensuring that the donor, donor area, and equipment are adequately prepared for the pheresis processors. The technician will report directly to the Assistant Center Manager and will be involved in various tasks that are essential for the smooth operation of the donor center. Key responsibilities include preparing the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process, monitoring the donor and the pheresis process, and responding to any alarms or signals that may occur during the procedure. Once the process is complete, the technician will disconnect the donor and maintain a high level of alertness to any reactions the donor may experience during or after the pheresis process, promptly notifying the appropriate staff as necessary. The technician will utilize a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, including machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and any adverse events experienced by the donor. It is also essential to ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system, adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The technician must maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring that sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Compliance with Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies is mandatory, and promoting safety in all actions is a key expectation of this role. Confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information must be maintained at all times. The technician may also be cross-trained in other areas to meet the business's needs, and bilingual skills may be required at the organization's discretion.
