About the position

The Donor Support Technician is responsible for preparing donors and equipment for the pheresis process, monitoring the donor during the procedure, and ensuring safety and compliance with health regulations. This role involves using technology to document incidents and maintain accurate donor records, while also promoting a clean and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
  • Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to alarms or signals during the process.
  • Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
  • Maintain alertness to any reactions the donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notify appropriate staff.
  • Record incidents during the pheresis process using a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
  • Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor using the PDA.
  • Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
  • Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as per SOPs.
  • Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies are available.
  • Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies and procedures.
  • Promote safety in all actions and maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
  • Perform job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months' work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
