About the position

The Customer Service & Exemptions Analyst position at Martin County Property Appraiser involves performing customer service and clerical work related to property tax exemption applications. The role requires assisting property owners with inquiries, processing exemption applications, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with established procedures. The analyst will work in various office locations and report to the Customer Service & Exemption Department Manager.

Responsibilities

• Assist property owners in obtaining information from public records including exemptions and ownership details.
• Process property tax exemption applications and additional benefits for property owners.
• Enter personal information into the database and generate application forms according to established procedures.
• Achieve quality control of exemption applications by running quality control filters in the system.
• Explain property valuation methods, the 3% homestead cap, and portability provisions to property owners.
• Process portability applications and assist with related documentation.
• Handle Limited Income Senior and 25-Year Senior Exemptions, including renewal data and supporting documentation.
• Process monthly reports related to exemptions and ownership changes.
• Maintain confidentiality of property owner information as per Florida Statutes.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of records and comply with established policies and deadlines.

Requirements

• Experience in customer service and clerical work.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proficiency in personal computer operation and navigation.
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with property tax exemptions and related processes.
• Familiarity with Florida Statutes regarding property appraisal.
