About the position

As a Customer Service Manager at Valley Transportation Service, Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring effective communication and exceptional service delivery in the transportation sector. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate incoming and outgoing communications related to transportation, ensuring that all customer inquiries and requests are handled promptly and efficiently. You will be tasked with developing strong working relationships with customers, which is essential for understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions. Proactive handling of customer shipment routing requests will be a key part of your role, as will preparing reports as requested by customers to keep them informed about their shipments and services. In addition to customer interaction, you will maintain customer and carrier profiles in the McLeod transportation software, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date. Resolving customer problems and complaints will require your analytical skills and attention to detail, as you will need to identify issues and implement effective solutions. You will also be expected to create and develop strategies to streamline operations, enhancing efficiency and customer satisfaction. Collaboration is vital in this role, as you will work closely with Van Driver Managers on truck planning to ensure that customer needs are met in a timely manner. Actively seeking new customer opportunities will also be part of your responsibilities, contributing to the growth and success of the company. You will assist with miscellaneous projects as needed, showcasing your versatility and willingness to support the team in various capacities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Incoming/Outgoing communication regarding transportation.
  • Provide customer service by developing good working relationships with customers.
  • Proactively handle customer shipment routing requests.
  • Prepare reports as requested by customers.
  • Maintain customer profiles/carrier profiles in McLeod.
  • Resolve customer problems and complaints.
  • Create and develop ways of streamlining operations wherever possible.
  • Complete and/or assist with miscellaneous projects as needed.
  • Actively look for new customer opportunities.
  • Work closely with Van Driver Managers on truck planning.
  • Help maintain customer profiles while gaining new customers.

Requirements
