About the position

The Customer Service Representative position at Staff Management | SMX involves providing high-quality customer service support for the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) through a remote call center. The role requires responding to customer inquiries, resolving issues efficiently, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This position offers a starting pay of $18/hour, with an increase for bilingual candidates, and includes one week of remote training.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the Privacy Act regarding confidentiality of information released.
  • Respond to incoming calls, emails, and in-person inquiries from claimants, employers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate and timely information on unemployment benefits, job search assistance, and other related services.
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Review and process unemployment insurance claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct eligibility determinations and make decisions on benefit payments.
  • Investigate and resolve claim disputes and discrepancies.
  • Accurately enter and maintain detailed records of customer interactions, claims, and other relevant information.

Requirements

  • Must be a resident of Illinois
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be able to speak English clearly and professionally
  • Previous customer service experience required
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute with at least 90% accuracy
  • Must have intermediate computer skills and the ability to navigate through multiple data screens
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to multi-task
  • Must pass all assessments or tests associated with the position
  • Computer/Laptop less than 3 years old
  • Windows 10 operating system with 5GB of available disk space and 4 GB of RAM
  • Anti-virus software
  • High-speed internet (min of 10MB download speed)
  • Access to a landline or cell phone
  • Tablet or smartphone that can download and run the app
