About the position

The Customer Service Representative (CSR) position at Young Williams involves representing the Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDOR) in a call-center environment located in Bossier City, LA. The CSR is responsible for providing accurate and timely information to the public and tax practitioners regarding taxes and fees administered by the LDOR. This role requires a thorough understanding of tax laws, departmental policies, and excellent communication skills to effectively assist customers.

Responsibilities

  • Handle customer inquiries requiring knowledge of tax laws and departmental policies.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of taxpayer accounts and provide accurate information.
  • Review original and amended tax returns for compliance with tax laws.
  • Correct non-compliant returns and notify taxpayers accordingly.
  • Calculate correct taxes, penalties, interest, and fees due.
  • Educate taxpayers and tax professionals on LDOR filing applications and tax laws.
  • Correct records in the LDOR information system (DELTA).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Complete mandatory training requirements within deadlines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of college or business school preferred.
  • One year of call center experience preferred, with clerical work as a major duty.
  • Experience in bookkeeping and reviewing tax-related forms is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and typing proficiency required; must type at least 30 words per minute.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree or certificate in a related field preferred.
