About the position

The Customer Service Representative (Payroll) at Poppins Payroll is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to household employers regarding payroll services and tax-related inquiries. This role combines customer service with tax knowledge, allowing representatives to guide clients through payroll processes and resolve issues in a supportive, fast-paced environment. The position offers a hybrid work model, allowing employees to work both from home and in the office, contributing to a positive customer experience and the company's growth.

Responsibilities

  • Answer client inquiries via email and live phone.
  • Explain payroll, payroll taxes, services, and the site to clients and prospective clients.
  • Complete and submit online applications and reports to obtain FEIN, set up employer accounts, and file tax reports on behalf of clients.
  • Meet (virtually or in-person) with the team to stay updated on tax issues, products, and features.
  • Work with the Customer Success Manager to resolve complicated customer issues.
  • Communicate with state and federal agencies about clients' accounts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of customer-facing work experience.
  • Aptitude with numbers and tax concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to teach new concepts to clients.
  • Patient listener with a genuine desire to solve client problems.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and spending much of the day on the phone with clients.
  • Team player who takes ownership of work.
  • Reliable and ethical.

Nice-to-haves

  • Payroll tax experience (a plus).
