About the position

The Customer Service Representative (Revenue Tax Analyst 3) position at the Louisiana Department of Revenue involves providing high-quality customer service to taxpayers, particularly in the alcohol and tobacco permitting process. The role focuses on quality assurance, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and improving processing efficiency. The incumbent will assist taxpayers with applications, conduct audits, and resolve complaints, contributing to the overall mission of the Department to collect state tax revenues effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Processes new business applications by assisting taxpayers with application process for opening new businesses, acquisition of an ongoing business, and/or renewal of a current permit.
  • Provides high level customer service to taxpayers new to the alcohol and tobacco permitting process.
  • Conducts audits on internal business division permit files to verify accuracy and consistency, and ensure compliance with all policies on the issuance of new applications and renewals.
  • Follows up with Analysts' permit files that have discrepancies caused by user error or lack of knowledge/information to correct discrepancies.
  • Ensures that Analysts receive proper training/support to avoid future discrepancies when serving taxpayers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in which clerical work was a major duty.
  • Training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute can substitute for required experience.
  • Completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute can substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
  • College training can substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience.
