About the position

The Customer Service Representative in the Tax Assessors Department is responsible for providing assistance to the general public and performing daily office duties. This role involves answering calls, verifying property information, assisting with applications, and performing clerical tasks to support the department's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming telephone calls and greet the public, verifying and providing information about property including owner, value, sales price, and deed and plat references.
  • Assist property owners with conservation and FLPA applications and homestead exemptions.
  • Help property owners, realtors, appraisers, various County departments, and the general public in locating properties on tax maps and pulling Property Record Cards.
  • Type correspondence at the direction of the Chief Appraiser and perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, stamping, and mailing.
  • Prepare bond title papers for the Sheriff's department.
  • Assist with property transfer records in the Assessor's office, which includes procuring plats and deeds from the Clerk of Courts when needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One year of experience in customer service, clerical work, or a related field.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
