About the position

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for performing clerical and administrative tasks related to the collection of funds for utility bills and other revenues. This role involves assisting customers with service requests and complaints, maintaining accurate records, and preparing financial reports under the supervision of the Billing Manager Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining records and files related to utility payments.
  • Receiving, validating, receipting, and recording monies collected.
  • Assisting customers with service requests and complaints.
  • Preparing financial and statistical reports as required.
  • Receiving payments for utility bills and issuing receipts.
  • Processing mail payments and preparing service orders for field crews.
  • Handling customer service applications for new accounts or account changes.
  • Participating in in-house collection processes for utility deposits and balances due.
  • Maintaining receipt files and answering incoming calls from customers.
  • Preparing bank deposits and balancing cash drawer against receipts.
  • Responding to inquiries from the general public regarding City services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Some work experience in an office environment with public contact and cashiering duties.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with standard office and billing equipment.
  • Knowledge of City policies regarding utility billing.
