About the position

The Customer Service Representative at ARCO | AMPM is responsible for providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. This role involves handling transactions, resolving customer complaints, and maintaining a clean and organized store. The representative will also assist with stocking shelves and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or changes due to customers.
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
  • Greet customers entering establishments.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
  • Establish or identify prices of goods, tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
  • Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales.
  • Compute and record totals of transactions.
  • Accept EBT and Coupons as applicable.
  • Resolve customer complaints.
  • Sell Lottery and Lotto tickets and other items to customers.
  • Keep periodic balance sheets of amounts and numbers of transactions.
  • Sort and count currency and coins.
  • Process merchandise returns and exchanges.
  • Answer customers' questions, and provide information on procedures or policies.
  • Pay some invoices by cash from POS.
  • Request information or assistance using paging systems.
  • Stock shelves, and mark prices on shelves and items.
  • Compile and maintain non-monetary reports and records.
  • Offer customers carry-out service at the completion of transactions as needed.
  • Maintain clean and orderly stations, including servicing and cleaning public restrooms, cleaning windows and countertops, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors, and organizing shelves.
  • Maintain and refill the outside washing dispensers.
  • Ensure satisfactory customer service by greeting customers and assisting them with any needs or questions.
  • Assist with fueling tanks if needed.
  • Identify transaction mistakes when debits and credits do not balance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of related experience and/or training in customer service or retail.
  • Valid Food Handler Certification (preferred).
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of cash register and scanner.
