About the position

The Customer Service Representative at the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to the public, assisting with trip planning, fare applications, and general inquiries. This role requires a strong knowledge of GCRTA services and routes, as well as the ability to handle customer concerns effectively. The representative will work in an office environment, ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere while promoting the mission of connecting the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provides person-to-person customer service information including trip planning and general services.
  • Reviews and processes fare/pass applications, including ADA and discount fare applications.
  • Types data from applications into a computer database.
  • Takes photos for ADA, discount fare, and senior fare ID cards.
  • Assists customers in obtaining routing information via phone, email, web, and in-person.
  • Processes and counts daily cash intake and prepares for bank deposit.
  • Promotes a safe and secure atmosphere and follows all safety and security rules.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience providing customer service to the general public.
  • General working knowledge of GCRTA bus and rail routes, schedules, and operating policies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills with the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a transportation or public service environment.
  • Familiarity with customer service software and databases.
