About the position

As a Customer Service-Self Storage Manager at Public Storage, you will play a crucial role in the self-storage industry, which is led by our company. This position offers a unique opportunity to work independently across multiple locations, allowing you to engage with customers and manage storage facilities effectively. Your primary responsibility will be to assess customer storage needs and provide tailored suggestions, which may include selling packing and moving supplies. You will also conduct daily inspections of storage units to ensure they are ready for rental, confirming inventory and availability. In addition to customer interaction, you will be responsible for various administrative tasks, including auditing cash drawers and making bank deposits. Keeping our customers informed about their payment status is essential, and you will be expected to make reminder and collection calls when necessary. This role requires a proactive approach to customer service, ensuring that all interactions are positive and that customer needs are met promptly. The position involves a mix of indoor and outdoor work, with physical requirements that include the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 35 pounds. You will spend a significant portion of your time outdoors, which may involve walking around the facilities, climbing stairs, and opening large doors. Daily maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and maintaining the exterior grounds, will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that the facilities remain appealing and free of debris.

Responsibilities

  • Assess customer storage needs and make suggestions, including selling packing and moving supplies.
  • Conduct daily storage unit inspections to confirm inventory and availability.
  • Audit cash drawers and make bank deposits as part of daily business operations.
  • Help keep customers current with payments and make reminder and collection calls when required.
  • Perform cleaning and daily maintenance tasks, including sweeping/mopping interior areas and maintaining exterior grounds.

Requirements

  • Experience in customer service-centered sales environments such as retail, restaurant, fast food, or other service-based companies.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to utilize your own vehicle for travel between different work locations.
