About the position

As a Self Storage Manager at Public Storage, you will play a crucial role in the self-storage industry leader, working independently across multiple locations in Philadelphia, PA. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with customers, assess their storage needs, and provide tailored solutions, including the sale of packing and moving supplies. You will be responsible for conducting daily inspections of storage units to ensure inventory accuracy and availability, which is essential for maintaining readiness for rental. Additionally, you will manage financial transactions, including auditing cash drawers and making bank deposits, ensuring that all financial activities are conducted accurately and efficiently. Your role will also involve maintaining customer relationships by keeping them informed about their payment status, making reminder calls, and handling collections when necessary. This position requires a proactive approach to customer service, as you will be the face of Public Storage at various locations, ensuring that customers receive the highest level of service. You will also be responsible for performing cleaning and maintenance tasks to uphold the property’s curb appeal, which includes sweeping, mopping, and maintaining the exterior grounds. The physical demands of this role include the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 35 pounds and spending a significant amount of time outdoors, which may involve climbing stairs and opening large doors. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently at multiple locations, both inside and outside.
  • Assess customer storage needs and make suggestions, including selling packing and moving supplies.
  • Conduct daily storage unit inspections to confirm inventory and availability.
  • Audit cash drawers and make bank deposits as part of daily business operations.
  • Keep customers current with payments and make reminder and collection calls when required.
  • Perform cleaning and daily maintenance tasks, including sweeping/mopping interior areas and maintaining exterior grounds.

Requirements

  • Experience in customer service-centered sales environments such as retail, restaurant, fast food, or other service-based companies.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to utilize your own vehicle for travel between different work locations.
