This position is integral to the patient experience, as it involves direct interaction with patients and their families, providing them with the necessary support and information they need during their visits. The specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including answering incoming phone calls, greeting patients and visitors, checking patients in and out, and managing appointment scheduling. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, as the specialist will be the first point of contact for patients, setting the tone for their experience at the facility. In addition to front desk responsibilities, the Customer Service Specialist will handle financial transactions, including collecting co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance amounts from patients. Accurate posting of payments and daily reconciliation of financial records are essential duties, ensuring that all transactions are correctly documented and discrepancies are addressed promptly. The specialist will also be responsible for preparing new patient folders and maintaining organized patient records, which are vital for efficient patient care and follow-up. The position operates within a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, allowing for a consistent work-life balance. The role is located at the Shawnee Mission Building, where the specialist will be part of a dedicated team committed to providing whole-person care, addressing not just the physical but also the emotional and spiritual needs of patients. Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming phone calls and greet individuals coming into the department.
  • Check patients in via the computer and collect applicable co-pay, deductibles, and/or coinsurance amounts from patients.
  • Post payments and schedule appointments and/or follow-up appointments.
  • Prepare new patient folders and maintain organized patient records.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of payments and adjustments posted against sign-in sheets and encounter forms.
  • Prepare bank deposits on a daily basis as needed.
  • Ensure current knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding applications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Up to 1 year of experience, preferably in healthcare.
