About the position

The Customer Service Specialist at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in the patient care team, responsible for various clerical and supportive functions that ensure the smooth operation of interoffice systems related to patient care activities. This full-time position involves direct interaction with patients, managing appointments, and handling financial transactions, all while contributing to a holistic approach to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls and greet individuals entering the department.
• Check patients in via the computer and collect applicable co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance amounts.
• Post payments and schedule appointments or follow-up appointments.
• Create new patient folders and maintain accurate patient records.
• Perform daily reconciliation of payments and adjustments against sign-in sheets and encounter forms.
• Prepare bank deposits on a daily basis as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Up to 1 year of experience in a customer service or healthcare setting.

Nice-to-haves

• Current knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding applications.
