About the position

The Customer Service Specialist at the North OKC Medical Billing Office is responsible for providing patient support functions within the Central Billing Office. This role involves handling customer service phone calls, resolving patient complaints, and assisting with payment plans and charity screenings. The specialist acts as a liaison between patients, the Central Billing Office, and clients, ensuring effective communication and resolution of patient issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-related support for the Central Billing Office according to policies and procedures.
• Handle customer service phone calls and resolve patient complaints.
• Research and resolve patient questions regarding billing and claims.
• Set up payment plans and conduct initial screenings for charity applications.
• Maintain a positive and professional relationship with patients, physicians, and staff.
• Stay informed about rule or policy changes relevant to the position.
• Document all actions taken on patient accounts in the billing system.
• Answer incoming phone calls promptly and courteously, returning messages within 24 business hours.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines in all communications.
• Assist patients with payment arrangements and discounts per established policies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare customer service, billing, or collections.
• Knowledge of insurance processes and claim reimbursement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bilingual skills preferred but not required.

• Experience with multi-billing systems.
• Current system experience preferred.
