About the position

The Customer Service Support Intern position at King County Housing Authority is a temporary internship designed for students or recent graduates interested in gaining hands-on experience in a public sector environment. The role involves providing office and clerical support at the Riverton Terrace portfolio in Tukwila, which serves families, seniors, and persons with disabilities. This internship offers a flexible work schedule, with core office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is expected to last up to one year, allowing interns to develop customer service and administrative skills while supporting diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide polite customer service to residents, staff, and the community.
  • Answer phones and direct callers to appropriate staff or department; answer basic questions.
  • Perform routine filing, scanning, and proofreading documents.
  • Word processing, data entry, spreadsheet preparation, run reports, enter and look up information in databases.
  • Operate standard office equipment, such as a personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Recent High School graduate or current student/recent graduate from a college/university program in Business, Social Work, or related field.
  • Clerical and/or customer service experience.
  • Basic experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on professional excellence.
  • Strong organizational skills including prioritizing and time management.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
