About the position

The Customer Service Technician at D.R. Horton, Inc. is responsible for maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction among homeowners by managing warranty requests and performing necessary repairs. This role involves evaluating repair issues, processing work orders, and ensuring compliance with warranty obligations, all while fostering good relationships with subcontractors and homeowners.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate homeowner repair issues to determine if they are warrantable items
  • Process written or electronic work orders and/or verbal instructions from supervisor for homeowner repairs
  • Perform necessary repairs to homes such as carpentry work, drywall, texture repair, and painting
  • Schedule and manage subcontractors to make designated warranty repairs
  • Ensure all repairs are completed within compliance standards
  • Certify warranty work is completed within contractor obligations
  • Develop and maintain good rapport with subcontractors and homeowners
  • Follow up with homeowners to ensure concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner
  • Process charge-back documentation and invoices
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Travel overnight as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three or more years of related experience, including carpentry work, drywall, texture repair, and painting
  • Valid driver's license and a vehicle capable of carrying supplies
  • Effective and positive communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to work independently and be productive without supervision
  • Systematic approach to assignments
  • Proficiency in using DRH Warranty applications on smart devices
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior customer service experience
  • Experience with minor electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repair work
