About the position

The Customer Service Technician II is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining telecommunication services, including service drops, cables, and associated wiring. This role involves working with both aerial and underground systems, ensuring proper functionality through testing and inspection, and providing customer service to enhance service quality. The technician operates under minimal supervision and is expected to handle various tasks that require technical skills and customer interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Install, replace, repair, and rearrange service drops, aerial, buried, and underground cables.
  • Connect drops, local cables, and inside/outside wiring to various terminals.
  • Test and inspect services to ensure proper functionality.
  • Perform maintenance splicing on copper and fiber-optic cables.
  • Maintain analog/digital carrier systems for subscribers.
  • Read and interpret service orders, work orders, and blueprints.
  • Evaluate customer needs and suggest improvements for service.
  • Make notations on service orders and update records as required.

Requirements

  • Valid Non-CDL Class C driver's license.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in telecommunications or related fields.
  • Ability to perceive differences in colors and distinguish audible tones/levels.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle equipped with standard (manual shift) transmission.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a Customer Service Technician I, II, or III.
  • Experience as a Fiber Network Field Technician or Special Equipment Installer.
