About the position

The Customer Service Technician II is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining telecommunications service drops, cables, and associated wiring. This role involves working with both aerial and underground systems, ensuring proper functionality through testing and inspection, and providing customer service to enhance network services. The technician operates with minimal supervision and is expected to handle various tasks that require technical skills and customer interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Install, replace, repair, and rearrange service drops, aerial, buried, and underground cables.
  • Connect drops, local cables, and inside/outside wiring to various terminals.
  • Make attachments to poles and buildings using hand/motorized tools, following installation diagrams and work orders.
  • Test and inspect services to ensure proper functionality.
  • Perform maintenance splicing on copper and fiber-optic cables.
  • Maintain analog/digital carrier systems for subscribers.
  • Read and interpret service orders, work orders, and blueprints.
  • Evaluate customer needs and suggest improvements for service.
  • Document work completion and update records as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid California class 'C' driver's license.
  • Experience in a similar role or equivalent telecommunications experience.
  • Ability to perceive differences in colors and distinguish audible tones/levels.
  • Must not exceed 275 pounds in weight, including clothing and footwear.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a Customer Service Technician I, II, or III, or Fiber Network Field Technician.
  • Proficiency in operating vehicles with standard (manual shift) transmission.
