About the position

The Customer Service Trainee position at MetLife is designed for recent college graduates with limited work experience. This role involves completing a 4-month training program that combines classroom learning and on-the-job training, focusing on the employee benefits industry and MetLife's group benefits. Trainees will transition into full-time Client Service Consultants, providing customer-centric solutions and managing customer relationships. The program emphasizes professional development, networking, and mentorship, aiming to equip trainees with the necessary skills for early career success.

Responsibilities

  • Complete and participate in all required MetLife learning and training, including successful completion of the Service Academy Program.
  • Work effectively with a seasoned service professional who serves as a mentor.
  • Develop an understanding of MetLife's Group Benefits products, services, and system platforms.
  • Build upon service competencies including communication, customer service, project management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Reinforce the service team by learning MetLife's systems and processes to support an assigned block of customers.
  • Participate in client audits and strategic planning processes.
  • Generate reports to track/report activities, identify trends, progress, and strategies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 0-3 years of customer-service or account management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and OneNote.
  • Strong project management skills including problem solving, time management, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and decisiveness.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in account management or customer service roles.
  • Familiarity with the employee benefits industry.
