About the position

The Customer Services Specialist position at Pinellas County's Utilities Customer Service Division involves responding to and resolving inquiries related to utility services, including payments and account management. This role requires maintaining customer relations and exercising independent judgment to ensure accurate service delivery. The position offers a team-oriented environment with some remote work options after training completion.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries regarding payments and account issues related to utility services.
• Research, verify, and update customer information in the system.
• Assist customers with account activities such as payment applications and financial assistance.
• Interpret billing information and apply appropriate procedures.
• Establish and maintain customer accounts in the information system.
• Research property ownership for accurate billing.
• Explain rate schedules clearly to customers.
• Maintain and update customer contact information.
• Assist in investigations and audits for account discrepancies.
• Process credit card and e-check payments via phone.
• Prepare reports and perform special projects as required.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in administrative matters and customer accounts related to utility services.
• An associate degree or vocational training with 1 year of customer service experience may substitute for part of the experience.
• A Bachelor's degree that includes training or experience in customer service is acceptable.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous call center experience.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish, French, and/or Vietnamese.
