The position focuses on delivering exceptional customer service and enhancing the shopping experience at City Market, a part of the Kroger family. The role involves resolving customer concerns, identifying operational improvements, and embodying the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The ideal candidate will contribute to a positive shopping environment while supporting the store's operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve customer concerns to ensure a high level of service and excellent customer experience.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Demonstrate the company's core values in all interactions.
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service, showing sincerity and respect in all customer interactions.
  • Greet customers genuinely and assist them in locating products and handling heavy items.
  • Anticipate customer needs and respond to questions and issues promptly to strengthen loyalty.
  • Oversee front end operations to meet sales, profit, and labor goals through effective cost control and service excellence.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the front end area.
  • Train and coach associates on front end policies and procedures to reduce shrink and waste.
  • Communicate pricing and signage discrepancies to the pricing coordinator.
  • Provide backup coverage for the service operations manager in their absence, excluding hiring and discipline.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of checkout transaction policies and procedures, including handling voids and refunds.
  • Operate equipment such as scanners and registers according to company standards.
  • Assist with front-end functions including checkout transactions, stocking, bagging, and cleaning.
  • Comply with food safety, sanitation, and safety regulations, reporting unsafe conditions and illegal activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Good math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Friendly, approachable, and outgoing demeanor; team player.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
