About the position

The Customs Administrator plays a crucial role in the Trade Compliance Department, focusing on compliance and supply chain security related to import and export activities for Honda. This position involves monitoring customs clearance, supporting local content reporting, and ensuring adherence to various trade regulations. The role requires continuous learning about international trade and customs, as well as the development of documentation to support governmental audits.

Responsibilities

• Support department operations related to import and export functions, supply chain security, local content reporting, and preferential trade programs.
• Manage customs clearance of imported merchandise, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and deadlines.
• Support export compliance procedures, including denied party screening and on-boarding foreign nationals.
• Manage local content reporting required for government regulations and interact with suppliers to gather detailed part cost data.
• Engage in continuous learning about international trade, customs, and Honda's business objectives.
• Develop and maintain written instructions, operation standards, and training documents to support governmental audits.

Requirements

• BA/BS Degree in International Business, Business Administration, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
• 0-3 years' import/export and trade compliance experience within the industry or with a customs broker or freight forwarder.
• Licensed Customs Broker; Certified Customs Specialist preferred.
• Analytical, compliance mind-set, detail-oriented, and strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge of US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) import regulations (19 CFR) and related programs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly high proficiency in Excel, and experience with other databases.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Honda's internal systems (Cost Simulation, DBOM, GPCS, SRM) is a plus.
• Familiarity with government regulations and technical documentation.
