About the position

Cole International USA is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Customs Analyst. This full-time role is crucial in ensuring that shipments are processed accurately and in compliance with U.S. Customs and other Partner Government Agencies. The Customs Analyst will be responsible for various key tasks involved in the shipping and crossing of international borders, which require specific documentation to meet legal obligations. The ideal candidate will ensure that all shipments are cleared for transport, adhering to all documentation requirements, and that they are processed in a timely manner while meeting customer expectations. The position operates on a schedule from 2:30 PM to 11 PM (EST), and candidates must be prepared to work weekends as needed. It is important to note that this is not a remote position; candidates must be able to work from the local office in Grand Island, NY. The Customs Analyst will engage in data entry, computer work, and professional communication via email and phone, making strong communication skills essential for success in this role. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Customs Analyst will be expected to stay updated on Customs procedures and changes, ensuring that all processes align with current regulations. The role requires a strong focus on customer service, analytical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Candidates should demonstrate accountability, dependability, and a commitment to ethics and integrity in their work.

Responsibilities

  • Release, classify, and bill basic import shipments
  • Prepare bonds for U.S. Customs for inspection and release of imports
  • Assure accurate and timely billings and resolve accounting issues
  • Understand how their job functions impact other units
  • Stay up-to-date on Customs and procedure changes
  • May be assigned additional tasks

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of Brokerage/office experience required
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous experience with MS Word and Excel, Windows, Email, and various PC-based software programs
