About the position

The Customs Entry Writer position at Savino Del Bene involves facilitating the clearance of goods through US Customs for import shipments. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for the freight forwarding industry and customs brokerage, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Filing of entry/entry summaries and customer contact.
  • Handling electronic PGA, prior notification, electronic FCC, USDA, TSCA billing, and RLF filing across the country.
  • Providing HTS to clients and ISF filing.
  • Offering clients air and ocean import freight quotes and researching for new clients.
  • Classifying all goods being imported and compiling necessary documentation, including cargo-control papers, customs invoices, and certificates of origin.
  • Arranging for the transportation and storage of goods that have cleared customs.
  • Communicating with the customer service team for proper documentation.
  • Monitoring all processes to ensure compliance with federal regulations and customs duties.
  • Coordinating with various departments to maintain compliance with all import operations.
  • Preparing required documents and procedures according to company standards.
  • Ensuring freight paperwork is completed and approved before transportation.
  • Maintaining knowledge of industry rules and regulations and performing all customs duties.
  • Upholding a strong and professional relationship with transportation agencies and sales.
  • Maintaining shipment files and ensuring timely billing completion.
  • Assisting as backup for alternate accounts.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2-3 years of brokerage experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills, particularly in MS Office.
  • Highly organized with a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Flexible and open-minded, willing to adapt to new environments and be a team player.
  • Good ethical standards.
