About the position

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking a Customs Entry Processing Agent to join our team in Port Huron, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the customs entry documentation for our customers, ensuring that all data is accurately entered into our computerized system. This position is crucial in facilitating the flow of goods and information across our customers' global supply chains, utilizing our extensive logistics network. As a Customs Entry Processing Agent, you will enter new customer orders into our DHL computerized system to obtain the release of cargo. You will ensure that all data is properly entered and uploaded in a timely manner, and you will complete document auto uploads as needed. Your role will also involve working closely with importers to obtain any missing information via telephone or email, maintaining positive and professional relationships with both internal and external customers. You will process medium complexity air and ocean shipments, which requires a thorough understanding of Special Program Indicators (SPI) related to Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Participating Government Agencies (PGAs). Additionally, you may be assigned other tasks as needed to support the team and the overall operations of DHL Global Forwarding.

Responsibilities

  • Enter new customer orders into the DHL computerized system to obtain release of cargo
  • Ensure all data is properly entered and/or uploaded completely in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Complete document auto upload as needed into the DHL computerized system
  • Work with importers to obtain missing information via telephone or email
  • Maintain positive and professional customer relationships (internal and external)
  • Process medium complexity air/ocean shipments and understand SPI related to FTAs and PGAs
  • May be assigned additional tasks as needed

Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED required
  • Keyboarding / 10 key data processing skills required
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) experience required
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts: days, evenings, nights, or weekends
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in area of responsibility
