The Cutter/Draper position at the University of Hartford involves overseeing the production-related aspects of the Costume Shop workroom. Responsibilities

• Creates and/or constructs original patterns and costumes from prototype or designer illustrations to final product.
• Tailors pre-built costumes and creates new costumes by drafting patterns or draping.
• Updates and oversees formal records of all fittings to determine alteration methods for stock, rental, and/or borrowed costumes.
• Assembles and maintains a production workbook of costumes for every production, compiling a record of builds, rentals, and/or stock costumes.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with various internal and external constituencies to meet the final theatrical costume details of each production.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associates Degree or two-year university equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
