About the position

The CV Technologist II at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in the cardiovascular and vascular procedures under the guidance of a cardiologist or vascular surgeon. This position requires a high level of technical skill and independent judgment, as the technologist performs a variety of complex procedures that involve the application of ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. The CV Technologist II is responsible for loading TAVR valves, scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating during TAVR cases, as well as handling other structural heart procedures such as PFO/ASD closures and mitral clips. Additionally, the role encompasses advanced vascular cases, including peripheral and EVAR procedures, and may involve advanced electrophysiology roles. The technologist is expected to demonstrate leadership by training and educating team members to enhance their skills and adapt to new technologies. In this full-time position, the CV Technologist II will work Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with an on-call rotation. The role requires adherence to safety and regulatory standards, including the use of PPE and aseptic techniques. The technologist will verify orders, communicate effectively with physicians, and ensure timely patient throughput while maintaining accurate medical records. Participation in quality improvement activities is essential, as is the ability to perform various procedural roles (monitor, scrub, circulate) effectively in both therapeutic cardiovascular and electrophysiology settings. The CV Technologist II is also responsible for maintaining equipment, ensuring proper documentation of procedures, and adhering to hospital policies and standards. The position demands a commitment to personal professional development, teamwork, and patient advocacy, with a focus on delivering high-quality care and promoting patient satisfaction. The technologist must be proactive in learning about new equipment and technologies, and demonstrate a collaborative spirit within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cardiology and vascular procedures under the direction of a cardiologist or vascular surgeon.
  • Load TAVR valves and assist in TAVR cases, PFO/ASD closures, and mitral clips.
  • Conduct advanced vascular procedures including peripheral and EVAR cases.
  • Demonstrate leadership by training and educating team members on cardiovascular technologies.
  • Follow CDC isolation guidelines and ensure proper use of PPE during procedures.
  • Verify orders and facilitate implementation, communicating with physicians as needed.
  • Produce accurate medical records for each patient based on intervention procedures.
  • Participate in quality and performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Perform waived and/or non-waived Point of Care Testing as required.
  • Effectively perform in all procedural roles (monitor, scrub, circulate) during cardiovascular procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies for procedures, ensuring they are ready and functional.
  • Document procedure logs and monitor ECG during procedures, reporting changes to physicians.
  • Participate in department meetings and maintain a commitment to professional development.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Graduate of a Technical School.
  • 2 years of position-related experience or 1 year of Electrophysiology experience.
  • Basic arrhythmia interpretation skills.
  • American Heart Association Health Care BLS certification.
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification and Kansas Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves
