About the position

The CVRM Science Communications Director at AstraZeneca is responsible for leading innovative communication strategies that enhance the company's scientific reputation in Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism (CVRM). This role involves crafting compelling narratives, collaborating with senior scientists, and amplifying AstraZeneca's science story through various communication channels to make a significant impact on patient lives globally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop external communication strategies to improve AstraZeneca's reputation as a leader in CVRM science.
  • Generate and disseminate impactful science content across internal and external channels.
  • Build and lead the CVRM science social media presence, adapting campaigns for various platforms.
  • Support media and investor relations planning with key scientific messages and global press release input.
  • Implement internal communications programs that boost employee engagement and brand awareness.
  • Offer communications support, messaging frameworks, and coaching to the CVRM Leadership team.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong emphasis on corporate communication experience.
  • University degree in life sciences or a related field.
  • Proven record of delivering content-rich communication programs in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Ability to build and adapt scientific content for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in maintaining relationships and optimally presenting alternative viewpoints at all levels.
  • Proven success in multi-channel social media and digital campaigns.

Nice-to-haves

  • Good knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug discovery and development process.
  • Ability to combine critical thinking with hands-on delivery.
