About the position

As a UX/UI Specialist at American National, you will leverage your passion for user experience and your educational background in a UX-related field to create exceptional user experiences. This role involves collaborating closely with product management to understand user needs and pain points, conducting user research, and advocating for usability best practices. You will work in a supportive in-office environment located in Springfield, MO or Galveston, TX, contributing to the overall design vision of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Product Manager and/or Product Owner to understand user needs, pain points, and goals.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather insights to inform product design decisions.
  • Create wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes to visualize the product's layout, navigation, and interactions.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager, Product Owner, and developers to iterate on design concepts based on feedback.
  • Advocate for usability best practices and accessibility standards.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to less experienced team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a UX-related field.
  • Portfolio showcasing relevant work.
  • Internships or 1-2 years of work experience within UX/UI.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of graphic design and interactive tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with user research methods such as competitive analysis, user personas, and customer journey maps.
  • Familiarity with usability testing techniques and A/B testing.
