About the position

The Cyber Analyst position at MITRE focuses on providing strategic and operational leadership in cybersecurity, particularly in the areas of threat intelligence analysis, cryptotracing, and monitoring dark web activities. The role involves collaboration with senior leaders and various teams to enhance the security posture against cyber threats, contributing to the safety and security of the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Threat Intelligence Analysis to research and analyze current and emerging cyber threats.
  • Perform Cryptotracing and Blockchain Analysis to trace cryptocurrency movements associated with malicious activities.
  • Provide Attribution Analysis to identify threat actors and correlate data sources.
  • Monitor and Analyze Dark Web Activities to gather intelligence on cybercriminals.
  • Develop Threat Reports and Briefings that translate complex findings into actionable insights.
  • Collaborate Cross-functionally with analysts, engineers, and threat intelligence teams.
  • Identify and Communicate Threat Trends to provide timely intelligence and risk assessments.
  • Drive Problem-solving Initiatives to address challenging cybersecurity issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cyber threat intelligence, cryptotracing, or digital forensics, with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to analyze complex datasets and draw meaningful insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating analytical reports and presentations.
  • Self-motivated with a proven track record of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a presence at the Sponsor Site in Houston, TX.
  • Ability to receive and maintain a US Government Clearance (Top Secret/SCI).
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CEH, GCTI, GIAC).
  • Master's degree in Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field with specialization in cryptocurrency analysis or Dark Web intelligence.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis.
  • Familiarity with intelligence-sharing platforms like ThreatConnect, OpenCTI, or MISP.
  • Experience in monitoring and analyzing Dark Web forums and marketplaces.
  • Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
