About the position

The Cyber Law and/or Policy Instructor at Turtle Mountain College is responsible for providing post-secondary, learner-centered instruction in Cybersecurity Law and Policy. This role emphasizes the importance of fostering a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and lifelong learning, while also focusing on personal and professional development. The position is a 9-month contract, with the potential for remote program development until on-campus instruction begins in Fall 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom and laboratory preparation, instruction, and supervision of students.
  • Maintain and manage the classroom to create a vibrant learner-centered teaching atmosphere.
  • Prepare and present College coursework off-campus, including workshops and seminars.
  • Measure student performance through preparation, administration, grading, and evaluation of coursework.
  • Coordinate and assess academic courses and programs.
  • Evaluate library holdings and recommend books.
  • Develop new courses and programs of study.
  • Implement and participate in service learning/community service projects.
  • Post schedules and maintain office hours for student advising.
  • Provide educational guidance and assistance for students, including planning schedules and recommending courses.
  • Track student progress and refer to appropriate resources as needed.
  • Serve on departmental, self-study, or institutional committees.
  • Participate in College-sponsored activities such as recruiting students and graduation activities.
  • Coordinate, advise, and supervise student activities and organizations related to academic programs.
  • Develop and implement college and community service learning projects.
  • Engage in civic engagement activities and faculty development initiatives.
  • Conduct ongoing research leading to new knowledge and proficiency in the field.
  • Write proposals for research and scholarly publications.
  • Serve as a peer reviewer for scholarly writing.
  • Hold office or membership in professional organizations and attend relevant meetings and conferences.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Law and Policy, or an IT-related field with at least 18 graduate credits in Cybersecurity, Law, or Policy.
  • Willingness to support the mission, values, goals, culture, and objectives of Turtle Mountain Community College.

  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Teaching experience in post-secondary education.
  • Documented full-time work experience in Cybersecurity, Law, or Policy.
  • Ability to advise and serve students from diverse backgrounds, respecting cultural and socio-economic differences.
  • Competence in implementing contemporary educational philosophies and methods, including multimedia instruction.
  • Successful teaching experience with culturally and academically diverse student populations.
  • Ability to work with students with learning disabilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
