About the position

The Cyber Network Engineer / Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) position at Axient involves providing direct technical expertise support to the Air Force Nuclear Weapon Center (AFNWC) NDW organization. This role is critical for the management and oversight of the Weapon Storage and Security System (WS3), Vault Management Program (VMP), and Disablement Management System (DMS) Mod programs. The ISSM will be responsible for all network engineering aspects of the contract, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of network engineering concepts and processes. In this role, the engineer will perform engineering analysis on current network systems and assist in planning new systems or upgrades. This includes supporting the design and maintenance of network systems, providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture, and offering detailed information for hardware and software selection. The ISSM will also conduct integration and testing of network designs, maintain system configuration control over software and hardware versions, and ensure technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection. The position requires managing the requirements, design, and implementation for networks and end-to-end systems to support mission operations, existing ground systems, and upgrades. The engineer will troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network issues while monitoring and analyzing overall network performance for areas of improvement. Additionally, the ISSM will generate Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation as part of accreditation efforts and manage network system engineering program documentation. This role is essential for maintaining network system security and protection, ensuring compliance with regulations, and safeguarding sensitive and classified information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct technical expertise support to the Air Force Nuclear Weapon Center (AFNWC) NDW organization.
  • Oversee all network engineering related aspects of the contract.
  • Perform engineering analysis on current network systems and assist with planning new systems and/or upgrades.
  • Support design and maintenance of network systems.
  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Conduct integration and testing of network design.
  • Maintain system configuration control over software and hardware versions.
  • Manage the requirements, design, and implementation for networks and end-to-end systems to support mission operations.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network issues.

  • Manage the network system engineering program documentation.

Requirements

  • CompTIA Security+ certification that meets DoD 8570.01-M with 10+ years of experience OR a Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field and 8+ years of experience.
  • Experience in designing, building, integrating, testing, and maintaining network and computing infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
  • Experience supporting various computer hardware and multiple operating systems in both stand-alone and LAN/WAN configurations.
  • Excellent verbal communication, written and quantitative analytical skills, including technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of computer forensics tools and investigative methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the nuclear enterprise mission, programs, procedures and environment.
  • Working knowledge of DoD Acquisition process and procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS office applications, i.e., MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
  • Experience leading teams and collaborating with key partners.
