About the position
The Lead Cyber Operations Engineer at MITRE specializes in Digital Forensics, focusing on evaluations, rapid prototypes, and tool development to enhance cyber capabilities for real-world missions. This role involves supporting both offensive and defensive operations, reverse engineering, and forensics, while leveraging expertise in various technical disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Conduct digital, mobile, or cloud forensics.
- Perform IoT device forensics.
- Execute network packet capture and analysis.
- Apply a full range of professional principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
- Support outward-reaching sponsors.
- Develop prototypes based on research.
- Work independently to learn new technologies, languages, and platforms.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret security clearance.
- Experience with programming in languages such as Python, Java, C++, or C.
- Knowledgeable/familiarity with operational digital forensic concepts and objectives.
- Familiarity with operational Cyber concepts and objectives.
- Familiarity with database systems (e.g., MySQL, Postgres, SQLite).
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with operational digital forensic concepts and objectives.
- Knowledge of the latest trends and non-governmental advances in Digital Forensics.
- Strong familiarity with Linux.
- Strong familiarity with network forensics and pcap analysis.
- Familiarity with the latest tools and techniques employed by forensic examiners.
