About the position

The Cyber Research Intern position at Leidos offers an opportunity to engage in cybersecurity research and software development, focusing on real-world problems. Interns will work alongside experts in the field, conducting data analysis, literature reviews, and lab-based experiments to address current and emerging cyber threats. Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on current and emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors.
  • Review and summarize academic papers, industry reports, and technical publications related to cybersecurity.
  • Assist in designing and developing experiments to test and validate cyber tools and models.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends and patterns for potential areas of interest.
  • Develop research reports, whitepapers, and presentations that outline findings and actionable insights.
  • Participate in team brainstorming sessions to propose novel research ideas and approaches.
  • Support the team in documenting methodologies, results, and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Must be U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must be enrolled in Bachelor's Degree program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, and have completed at least 1 year of curriculum with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Fundamental understanding of cybersecurity principles.
  • Strong in Python or similar programming language.
  • Experience with Linux environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical materials, including research papers, documentation, and reports.
  • Proven record of innovative solutions to science and engineering problems (commensurate with education level).

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and frameworks.
  • Experience with identifying software vulnerabilities, either through coursework, projects, or internships.
  • Knowledge of Android systems.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
