About the position

The Cyber Security Advisor at FedEx is responsible for creating cyber-intelligence solutions aimed at preventing both internal and external attacks on the company's email, data, e-commerce, and web-based systems. This role involves implementing and supporting various technologies across multiple domains, including application, network/perimeter, data, endpoint, identity & access, and mobility. The advisor will develop and implement enterprise security solutions to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities associated with information systems, while also configuring and analyzing security tools and software. In addition to developing security solutions, the Cyber Security Advisor will research attempted or successful efforts to compromise system security and design effective countermeasures. Coordination with IT and end users is essential to minimize disruptions and protect company assets. The advisor will also provide information security recommendations to management, aligning with business strategies and goals. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role. The position requires a minimum of six years of experience in various areas such as business continuity, network forensics, security frameworks, endpoint security, and more. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical, consulting, and project management skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical subjects effectively across different organizational levels. Preferred qualifications include experience in managing projects with minimal oversight, developing risk metrics, and knowledge of security standards and frameworks such as NIST, MITRE, and OWASP.

Responsibilities

  • Create cyber-intelligence solutions to prevent internal or external attacks.
  • Implement and support technologies across application, network/perimeter, data, endpoint, identity & access, and mobility domains.
  • Develop and implement enterprise security solutions to mitigate information systems risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Research attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems security and design countermeasures.
  • Coordinate with IT and end users to minimize disruptions and protect assets.
  • Provide information security recommendations to management in support of business strategies and goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent formal training or work experience.
  • Six (6) years' experience in at least four (4) of the following areas: business continuity and disaster recovery, network forensics, security and risk frameworks, endpoint security, information systems auditing, vendor risk assessment, cyber risk assessment, network intrusion detection/prevention, identity and access management, IT lifecycle management.
  • Strong technical, consulting, and project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical subject matter effectively to multiple organizational layers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing projects from the ground up with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to develop quantitative and qualitative risk metrics and security standards for different technologies.
  • Experience reviewing and proposing changes to secure software architecture.
  • Knowledge in building governance around software life cycle management from design through deprecation phase.
  • Experience in triaging and communicating security incidents.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps & CI/CD practices.
