About the position

As a Cyber Security Apprentice at IBM, you will work in the Security Operations Center, applying your technical knowledge to support and prevent cyber threats for clients. This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents while developing essential skills in cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and audit client systems to ensure protection of systems and data.
• Track and analyze networks/systems for potential security violations and respond to incidents.
• Collaborate with teams to investigate security violations and report findings.
• Perform continuous monitoring duties including vulnerability assessments and event analysis.
• Conduct incident investigations and analyze security products to detect weaknesses.
• Assess and detect network vulnerabilities.
• Maintain security system infrastructure.
• Stay updated on cyber trends, threats, and vulnerabilities.
• Install, configure, deploy, and maintain security toolsets.

Requirements

• Willingness to complete the apprenticeship program requirements.
• Some knowledge or experience with Operating Systems like Windows and Linux.
• Understanding of general networking and infrastructure fundamentals.
• Familiarity with cyber security fundamentals.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, PHP, or Python.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
