About the position

The Cyber Analyst I plays a crucial role in the security administration, data analytics, and event monitoring within the organization. This position is responsible for independently establishing system security documentation, assisting with the implementation of security procedures, and verifying information system security requirements. The analyst will stay current with system vulnerabilities and provide basic security training to system users. Additionally, the role involves designing, implementing, and testing state-of-the-art secure security systems, networks, and database solutions. The Cyber Analyst I will also provide technical support, execute requests, and answer general inquiries in a high-security environment. In terms of responsibilities, the Cyber Analyst I will assist in preparing and ensuring the implementation of cybersecurity policies and procedures, conducting investigations of unusual incidents involving cybersecurity issues. The analyst will help plan and coordinate access controls to allow authorized personnel or visitor access to restricted electronic records, materials, or areas. Furthermore, the analyst will assist in planning, developing, coordinating, and presenting cybersecurity awareness training and education for cybersecurity operations, evaluating training program effectiveness, conducting job task analysis, security audits, surveys, and special studies. The role also includes developing written documentation of Cyber Security, Telecommunications Security, and local procedures, as well as coordinating with the Department of Energy (DOE) to obtain rulings, interpretations, and acceptable deviations for compliance with regulations and orders. The Cyber Analyst I will represent the team in meetings with internal and external customer bases, recommend and/or implement policies and procedures in support of management objectives, and assist in developing and facilitating internal communications, which may include processing and distribution of information through communication services. Other duties may be assigned as required, making this a dynamic and engaging position within the cybersecurity field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and facilitating internal communications, including processing and distribution of information through communication services.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or two additional years of direct work experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 0-2 years experience in a cybersecurity environment.
  • US Citizenship, capable of obtaining & maintaining appropriate government security clearance.

  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to utilize interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management and employees.

  • Knowledge of NIST special publications (FIPS 199, 200, 800-53, 800-37) and the certification and accreditation process.
