About the position

The Cyber Security Analyst II position at the City of Columbia, MO, is designed to protect the city's network and systems from cyber threats. The role involves researching potential threats, creating contingency plans, reviewing suspicious activities, reporting security breaches, and educating users on cybersecurity measures. The analyst will lead the execution of Incident Response Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans, ensuring the safety and security of the city's digital infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement cybersecurity best practices including baseline configuration management, vulnerability remediation, and change management.
  • Create and maintain cybersecurity policies, plans, and procedures including supply chain risk management, incident response, disaster recovery, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Research and evaluate emerging cybersecurity threats and methods for mitigation.
  • Investigate and respond to security alerts.
  • Create, maintain, and deliver cybersecurity awareness training and guidance, adhering to regulatory compliance standards.
  • Create a monthly cybersecurity newsletter to be distributed to all City staff.
  • Lead and facilitate Incident Response Plans, Disaster Recovery Plans, and Cyber Vulnerability Assessments.
  • Collaborate with physical security and building maintenance staff to ensure safe entry at multiple facilities.
  • Oversee decommissioning and sanitization of digital media.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience in information/cyber security, including incident response and governance.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Certification.
  • ITIL Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity framework.
  • Experience with security tools such as Splunk, Nessus, Shodan, NPview, Varonis, Kali, etc.
  • Skill in communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.
