About the position

The Information Technology Planning Section is seeking a dynamic Cyber Security Analyst to join its Information Security department. This role is crucial for ensuring the security and integrity of the organization's information systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing cybersecurity policy and technical advisory services to various internal business process area project teams. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks associated with information security, as well as ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in information security, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience. A high school diploma or GED is required, while an associate's degree or equivalent technical certification is preferred. Candidates with a degree in computer science or engineering and 2 years of equivalent work experience will also be considered. The role demands excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines effectively. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities is essential. Technical skills are paramount for this position, including proficiency in scripting, a solid understanding of network traffic flows, and experience with vulnerability management. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary, as the Cyber Security Analyst will be required to present findings and recommendations to various stakeholders. Familiarity with intrusion detection/prevention systems, web applications, and database firewall systems is preferred, along with an understanding of critical infrastructure protection (CIP) regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cybersecurity policy and technical advisory services to internal business process area project teams.
  • Perform vendor risk assessments in support of internal business process area project teams.
  • Support critical infrastructure protection (CIP) readiness and compliance activities as required.
  • Generate regular risk management reports using various security technologies.
  • Conduct internal vulnerability assessments and ensure remediation of vulnerabilities for business process area infrastructure and web applications.
  • Perform internal penetration testing as requested.
  • Support incident response activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with 3 to 5 years of information security work experience.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent technical certification preferred.
  • Degree in computer science or engineering with 2 years of equivalent work experience is acceptable.
  • Strong technical skills across cyber security technologies, including scripting skills.
  • Understanding of network traffic flows and vulnerability management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server, Windows 7/8/10, and Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Familiarity with web applications and database firewall systems.
  • Understanding of critical infrastructure protection (CIP) regulatory requirements.
