About the position

The Cyber Security Analyst position at Valiant Government Services, LLC is a full-time exempt role that supports the JBLM-Mission Training Complex. The primary responsibility of the Analyst is to provide business operations and human resource support for the JBLM Cyber Security Support Team, while also serving as the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for the contract staff. This role is critical in ensuring the security and compliance of information systems within the organization, particularly in relation to Department of Defense (DoD) requirements and standards. In this position, the Analyst will be tasked with providing administrative support for both Linux and Windows server/workstations, as well as site-specific applications. The role involves system administration and maintaining the operations of Host-Based Security System (HBSS) servers. The Analyst will also be responsible for managing the ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) tree structure, policy catalog management, and resolving any ePO server issues, whether they pertain to the operating system, ePO, or SQL databases. Additionally, the Analyst will maintain the ePO server by performing automated tasks, managing the task scheduler, and conducting database maintenance tasks. The Analyst will utilize the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) for the implementation and sustainment of government-mandated security measures. This includes conducting automated network vulnerability scanning, configuration assessments, and network discovery. The role requires the Analyst to apply patches to ensure that workstations and servers remain compliant with DoD Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) requirements. Furthermore, the Analyst will prepare reports on security incidents and changing responses, while staying informed about emergent technologies that could impact the organization's cybersecurity posture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Administrative support for Linux, Windows server/workstations and site-specific applications.
  • Provide system administration and maintain operations of HBSS servers.
  • Administer ePO tree structure management, policy catalog management, Resolve ePO server (O/S, ePO, or SQL) issues.
  • Maintain the ePO server (automated tasks, task scheduler, database maintenance tasks, etc.).
  • Use ACAS administration for the implementation and sustainment of government mandated Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) system, which is comprised of Security Center, Nessus Scanner and the Nessus Network Monitor.
  • Provide automated network vulnerability scanning, configuration assessment, and network discovery using ACAS.
  • Apply provided patches to keep workstations and servers in compliance with DoD IAVM requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with policies and procedures including DoD STIG requirements.
  • Prepare reports on security incidents and changing responses.
  • Remain abreast of emergent technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or related technical experience.
  • Strong IT background (e.g., Windows, Linux) along with expertise in integration and testing process.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Information Assurance (IA) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) 2.0.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to document and update processes and perform tasks under deadlines.
  • Experience with DoD cybersecurity preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Server system administration preferred.
  • Experience in Linux Operating Systems preferred.
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) preferred.
