About the position

As a Cyber Security Analyst at Charter Schools USA, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the organization by addressing cyber security challenges using emerging technologies. This position focuses on Cyber Network Defense, requiring quick analysis of threats, risk assessment, and deployment of effective countermeasures to protect clients and ensure a secure educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or participate in information security related projects or in managing strategy.
  • Lead and manage the Cyber Security Training and Education program.
  • Make business critical incident response decisions, working as part of a dedicated team.
  • Perform Incident Handling duties for security incidents within the defined Computer Security Incident Response process.
  • Maintain situational awareness for cyber threats across multiple clients and act as necessary.
  • Conduct forensic investigations for HR, Legal, or incident response activities.
  • Manage and monitor cloud-based content filters for efficient school operations.
  • Assess alerts and notifications of event activity and respond to threats accordingly.
  • Provide reports and documentation as requested by supervisor.
  • Analyze data to provide management with critical decision-making information and develop monitoring systems or processes.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and proficiency related to assignments.
  • Review current developments and technical sources related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and follow federal and state laws, as well as company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in Information Security or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least two (2) years in Cyber Network Defense and three (3) years in incident response methodologies, malware analysis, penetration testing, scripting, and/or forensics.
  • Experience as a systems administrator in Linux, Unix, Windows, or OSX operating systems is desirable.
  • Ability to create complex scripts and develop tools in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Security certifications such as CISA, CISM, SSCP, CISSP, CCNA, CompTIA Security+, GIAC(s), or CEH are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of networking and common network protocols.
  • Ability to travel within and outside of Florida.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud security solutions.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST or ISO 27001.
  • Experience in educational environments or with K-12 institutions.
