About the position

The New York City Fire Pension Fund is seeking a hands-on Cyber Security Analyst to support its cybersecurity initiatives. This role involves a variety of responsibilities, including triaging and investigating cyber events, managing risk, and maintaining security policies. The analyst will also perform secondary duties related to desktop support and server administration, requiring the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, test, monitor, and maintain tools needed for cybersecurity activities.
  • Update business continuity/disaster recovery plans and conduct disaster recovery tests.
  • Serve as a liaison with a team of cybersecurity analysts to monitor and report suspicious log activities.
  • Oversee patching and software upkeep across workstations, servers, and network equipment.
  • Provide proactive guidelines to avoid business risk.
  • Maintain security policies and group policies across firewalls and identity assignments.
  • Manage WordPress and basic content for the public-facing website.
  • Assist in responding to audit inquiries.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree with 24 semester credits in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of satisfactory experience in cybersecurity or related areas, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Education may substitute for experience on a 60 semester credits to one year of experience basis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity engagement protocols within NYC and large organizations.
  • Familiarity with Windows, Mac, and Linux environments, as well as Microsoft O365, iOS/Android.
  • Experience with remote support and patch management.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Familiarity with Zscaler, CrowdStrike, Rapid7, and Azure.
